When Sanjay Dutt married Rhea Pillai, the granddaughter of the Maharaja of Hyderabad

It’s a special day for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, as he turns 58 recently. He began his career way back in 1971 as a child artist in his father Sunil Dutt’s film “Reshma Aur Shera”, has over the years experimented with different genres and has been showered with love by the audience.

Sanju Baba never gave up the head of his father Sunil Dutt in the case of acting but he always stay in headline because of his personal reasons. Sanjay has gone through a very rough phase both personally and professionally. Sanju Baba fell in love many times but was not fortunate to make it last forever. 

Sanjay’s first marriage was with actress Richa Sharma in 1987. Richa quit the Bollywood industry after marriage. They were blessed with a girl Trishala in 1988. After two months of their daughters birth Richa Sharma was diagnosed with cancer and the couple parted ways.Unfortunately, Richa died at her parents home in New York on December 10, 1996.

After Richa’s death, model and socialite Riya Pillai came in Sanjay’s life. Sanjay Dutt and Riya were friends already. Their love story began when Dutt was languishing in a prison cell during the Mumbai bomb blasts trial. At that time there was a Riya who stood with Sanjay every moment.

Rhea Pillai was born to Raymond Pillai and Dhurreshwar Dhanrajgir, a doctor, and the daughter of Maharaj Narsingir Dhanrajgir Gyan Bahadur of Hyderabad and actress Zubeida, who acted in the first Indian film Alam Ara (1931).

Riya gave full support to Sanjay she used to visit him in jail. Sanjay during an interview said, “Love is what Rhea did when I was in jail.” After coming out of jail, Sanjay propose Riya for marriage in Valentine’s Day party. The couple got married in 1998. After marriage, Sanjay Dutt signed seven films and got busy in shooting. Because of this, he could not give time to Riya. In an interview, Sanjay Dutt had himself admitted that his personal life has ended due to the shooting.

But the truth was something else. Sanjay had come close to Manyatan at that time and Riya was starting dating tennis player Leander Peas. Sanjay and Riya filed divorce case. After the divorce became official in 2008, Sanjay got married to Manyata and Riya stayed with Paes.

Pillai had a live-in-relationship with Indian tennis player Leander Paes in 2005. The couple has a daughter, Aiyana. She has filed a case against Paes and his father alleging domestic violence in June 2014 at a local metropolitan court. he Magistrate decided that since Pillai was living-in with Paes as his wife, and the case could be heard by the court. Pillai is asking for Rs 4 lakh a month in maintenance under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, saying that Leander and his father Vece Paes caused her and her 10-year-old daughter mental and economic cruelty.

Paes and Rhea had a live-in relationship of 8 years. But, during the hearing in the court, Paes said that Rhea is not his wife, so he will not give alimony. Apart from this, Rhea has also demanded a house from Paes so that she can live with her daughter there. But Paes has refused to give the house.

In 2008, Sanjay Dutt got married to Manyata Dutt. The couple has twins a boy named Shahraan and a girl named Iqra.
