There are many Indian television daily soaps which starts with a bang but makers has to wrapped up with in a few months due to low TRPs or not getting same response from viewers as expected. Here are a few shows that were axed in a short time after they went on air.
1.Pehredaar Piya Ki
Probably for the first time in the history of Indian television, a show has been asked to go off air by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Sony TV’s show “Pehredaar Piya Ki” was infamous for its plotline from the start, actually even before it started. The show was about an 18-year-old woman who is married to a 9-year-old boy. The audience was not ready to accept such content and the show was recently banned. The show wrapped up in less than two months, leaving the cast and crew (including Tejasswi Prakash, Afaan Khan and Suyyash Rai) shocked as they were informed about the decision at the last minute–while they were rehearsing their lines for the next shot.
2. Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai
Star Plus’ show “Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai” had some very popular faces like Surbhi Jyoti, Sharad Kelkar and Shoaib Ibrahim, and the twists were intriguing, yet the show faltered in the ratings department. The story begins on 25 February this year with the love Story of Geetanjali and Captain Abhimanyu Singh Rathore but wrapped up in June 2017.
3. Dhhai Kilo Prem
Earlier this year Star Plus strengthened its afternoon bandwidth by launching four shows as part of its ‘Star Dopahar’ strategy. “Dhhai Kilo Prem” starring Meherzan Mazda and Anjali Anand in the lead role also wrapped up by the end of the September. Dhhai Kilo Prem producer Sandiip Sikcand told indianexpress.com, “Yes, Star Dopahar will cease from September 30. It’s the channel’s call and we, as show makers respect their decision. We are now working towards bringing a proper happy end to our storyline.”
4. Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka
The Indian adaptation of the hit Turkish show Fatmagul, “Kya Qusoor Hai Aamla Ka” failed to impress and will go off air soon. Pankhuri Awasthi, who plays the lead in show quipped, “I have always upheld the belief that the show is a wonderful one. It is a beautiful story and inspiring story and from what I have seen on social media, people enjoy watching it. I cannot talk about the shows going off air as I myself do not have any clarity on the same.”
5. Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi
‘Star Dopahar’ another show “Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi” was about an Aethist girl who is married into a religious family. The show will also wrap up soon since the channel on which it is aired is axing all its afternoon shows.
Kanwar Dhillon, who is playing lead in the show said, “Personally, I think our show was doing well for an afternoon slot overall and deserved a longer run. I just hope we were as lucky as Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji to be shifted to an evening slot since we almost rated the same. I feel bad for all the four shows but I choose not to be upset and sulk over it because certain things are not in your hands. I am an actor and all I can do is give my best to the show, which I did, and leave the rest to destiny. It was a lovely team to work with both the channel and production house, and I hope to get a chance to work with them in the near future.
6. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3
Barun Sobti’s show “Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon” which airs on Star Plus has been going on a roller coaster ride with respect to the TRP reports. When Gul Khan announced the show, the audiences expected something big. They wanted their favourite jodi-Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani-back. But, Gul surprised the viewers by bringing Shivani Tomar on-board, which didn’t go well with the audiences.
And according to the latest reports, the show might go off air soon! It is said that the channel has decided to pull the show off air owing to low ratings. The team might wrap up its shoot on September 15!

Epic historical show Aarambh, which airs on Star Plus and stars actors Rajniesh Duggall and Karthika Nair along with veteran actress Tanuja, is soon going to go off air. Looks like despite various plot twists, impressive set and costumes, and a decent script, Aarambh was unable to hold the viewers’ attention.
Lead actor Rajniesh Duggall recently confirmed the news to The TOI, said “Yes, the show is ending. The makers have reduced the 32-episode series to just 24. It was a grand idea, but unfortunately, we didn’t get the numbers that we expected. However, I loved being a part of it. Both Varun Dev and Jal Dev (his characters in the show) will be close to my heart.
8. Love Ka Hai Intezaar
The Keith Sequeira and Sanjeeda Sheikh starrer show “Love Ka Hai Intezaar”, intended to be a new age romance show but it failed to click with the audience. It had also witnessed a leap recently but failed to click with the audience. Preetika Rao who is playing leading lady in the show post leap said “As a actor I don’t believe in shows which go on as a saga, I rather dig short and sweet work. Personally my comfort level for any project is between 3-6 months. I don’t feel disheartened if my show ends within this time frame. I have been shooting for three months, also we should know our limitations. Looking ahead, I would be game for shorter format shows be it on TV or web”.
9. Har Mard Ka Dard
Television show “Har Mard Ka Dard” launched in February, this year with a bang and after airing for almost six months, wrapped up on July 14. The show “Har Mard Ka Dard” showcased problems of every man in the society in the most humorous way and one of a kind storylines. It was a conceptual show with limited episodes and it has marked it end on a good note.
10. P.O.W Bandi Yuddh Ke
Nikhil Advani’s P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke was adapted from Israeli TV show Hatufim but failed to rake in TRPs. The show had a great cast that included names like Sandhya Mridul, Purab Kohli and Amrita Puri. Despite having a good cast and a tight script, it failed to strike a chord with the viewers. It went off air within four months of its launch.
11. Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do
Ekta Kapoor’s Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do that opened amidst a lot of expectations in October 2015 is coming to an end just after three months of its premiere. The show was a mature love story starring Mona Singh and Iqbal Khan in the lead. It is hard to miss the plot’s similarity to Bollywood films like Dil Se (starring Shah Rukh Khan) and Fanaa (starring Aamir Khan). “Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do” will wrap up after completing 104 episodes.
12. Jaat Ki Jugni
The Sony TV show that was a remake of Karisma Kapoor and Venkatesh starrer Anari, failed to garner good ratings. The show will bid goodbye within three months of its premiere date. “Jaat Ki Jugni” has Siya Ke Ram actress Madirakshi Mundle and Vishal Vashishtha as main leads.
