Television actress Sumona Chakravarti who is known for her role of Manju Sharma as Kapil Sharma’s wife character in “Comedy Nights with Kapil” is deeply upset as her father was allegedly assaulted by an autorickshaw driver on a busy road.
Yes, if reports are to be believed, her father gets beaten up by an auto rickshaw driver and there was no one who had come to his rescue. The incident took place a few days ago.
In a statement to a daily, the actress said, “We stay near Seven Hills Hospital, Andheri (East). My mom was unwell, so dad was taking her to there. No auto driver agreed to go. Finally, one stopped but wanted higher fare. My dad first argued, but later backed off.”

While Sumona’s father was being treated, Mumbai police acted immediately and took witnesses’ statements and lodged a complaint. They nabbed the attacker soon, who has been identified as 25 year-old Amit Gupta.
“Gupta was booked under Sections 324 (assault), 337 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. He was later released on bail of Rs 5,000,” said Senior inspector Anil Pophale of Powai police station.
