The period film padmavati is going through its roughest phases, and but obvious needs support from the industry. Not only the movie, but the star cast is threatened to death. Same happened with the reel life Padmavati Aka Deepika Padukone, where she was receiving death threats and offensive comments from leaders and social workers. On this, Shabana Azmi initiated a campaign in the industry.
A well-informed source says, “It was Shabana Azmi who initiated a campaign in the film industry. She got every major actress to sign a petition to the Prime Minister asking for Deepika’s safety and protection. The actresses who signed the petition included Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, her sister Parineeti Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and many others. All of them willingly signed the petition.”
But when it came to Kangana, Shabana was stumped. “Kangana refused point blank. She said an outright no to signing the petition, much to Shabana’s shock and annoyance,” says a source.
The source continues, “What came as a clincher was the complete silence of the industry including Deepika, when Kangana battled Hrithik Roshan. Kangana probably feels no need to extend her support to anyone since no one supported her. And, she is not all wrong.”
A source close to the makers said, “Once the conflicts of the interest are sorted, the Padmavati team will conduct a press conference announcing the date of the release and answer all the questions of the press.”
