Here’s how the star cast of ‘Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa’ has changed over the years!

It has been 18 years since, Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa hit on screen and won the heart of Indian audiences. K. Raghavendra Rao’s film starring Govinda, Juhi Chawla and Tabu is still loved by the audience. This was the remake of Tamil film Viralukketha Veekkam directed by V. Sekhar.

Each and every character of the film is still remembered by all of us for their comic timing. Well, today we are going to tell you about how the star cast of the film has changed over the years. Let’s take a look:


1. Ketki Dave

Ketki Dave’s played the role of Appu Khote (Johnny Lever) wife Vimla in the film and her role is still remembered by the audience. Ketki has won several hearts with her comic timing. The actress has also appeared in films like, Money Hai Toh Honey HaiKal Ho Naa Ho, and Hello! Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain. She also has many television credits to her name, some of which are Nach Baliye 2, Bigg BossKyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu ThiBehenein and Ye Dil Kya Kare. Dave is best known for her role as Daksha Virani in the soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

2. Johnny Lever

Johnny Lever played the role of Appu Khote in the film. Lever is one of the most noted comedians in Hindi cinema. He began his career in 1984, and has acted in more than three hundred Bollywood films. The actor has received thirteen Filmfare Awards nominations in Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role.

3. Chandrachur Singh

Chandrachur Singh played the role of Tabu’s husband Ravi in the film. There was a time when Chandrachur was favorite of millions of people but, today have forgotten. The actor who was recognized as chocolate boy is difficult to identify today. Nowadays, he become quite overweight. He made his debut from the movie ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ but, he got fame after his movie ‘Maachis’. After the success of the movie he used to get start many films. Than he appeared in several films like, Betaabi, Dil Kya Kare, Josh, Daag: The Fire, Kya Kehna.

4. Tabu

Tabu played the role of Chandrachur Singh’s wife in the film. Tabu is best known for playing protagonists in films that garner more critical appreciation than substantial box office figures. Her most critically acclaimed performances were in the films MaachisKaalapaaniVirasatKandukondain KandukondainHu Tu TuAstitva (2000), Chandni BarMaqboolCheeni KumHaiderDrishyam and Fitoor.

5. Vinay Anand

Vinay Anand played the role of Isha Koppikar’s husband Vijay in the film. Vinay is known for his roles in movies like Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya, Sautela, Jahan Jaaeyega Hamen Paaeyega. He is also related to Bollywood actor Govinda. The actor has also featured around 60 Hindi and Bhojpuri movies.

6. Isha Koppikar 

Isha Koppikar played the role of Vinay Anand’s wife Anjali in the film. Isha is best known for playing protagonists in films that garner more critical appreciation than substantial box office figures.  Her most critically acclaimed performances were in the films Girlfriend (2004), D (2006), Darling (2007) and Shabri (2011). She has also played leading and supporting roles in several commercially successful films, including Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003), Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005), Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005), 36 China Town (2006) and Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006), as well as item numbers in several films.

7. Govinda

Govinda played the role of Juhi Chawla’s husband Bhimsha in the film. Govinda has starred in many films in his career.Govinda had lead roles in several commercially successful comedy films, including Aankhen (1993), Raja Babu (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Hero No. 1 (1997) and Haseena Maan Jaayegi (1999).  He received a Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Haseena Maan Jayegi and a Filmfare Special Awardfor Saajan Chale Sasural. Govinda has played dual roles in several movies, including Jaan Se Pyaara (1992), Aankhen (1993), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) and Anari No.1 (1999).

8. Juhi Chawla

Juhi Chawla played the role of Govinda’s wife Jhumri in the film. Chawla has worked predominantly in Hindi language films, in addition to Bengali, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu language films. A top leading actress in the late 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, she has garnered particular praise for her comic timing and vivacious on-screen persona.

9. Mink Brar

Mink Brar played the role of dancer Sukeshini in the film. Mink is known for her work in Bollywood films and on Indian television shows. She made her debut in the Indian film industry with Dev Anand’s Hindi film Pyaar Ka Tarana,which was released in September, 1993. She then appeared in several films like JungSaat Rang Ke SapneYamraajHum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte HainGanga Ki KasamMaa KasamJwalamukhiAjnabee Zahreela , PitaahChalo Ishq LadaayeBorder Hindustan Ka and Oops. She also worked in some regional South Indian films, including a Telugu movie, Prematho Raa.

10. Shakti Kapoor

Shakti Kapoor played the role of Dhokla bhai in the film. Shakti is known for his villainous and comic roles in Hindi films, he has featured in more than 700 films throughout his career. In the 1980s and 1990s, Kapoor teamed up with actor Kader Khan as the comical or evil duo in over 100 films. He was a contestant in the Indian reality show Bigg Boss.

11. Asrani

Asrani played the role of Jhumri’s boss in the film. He has acted in over 350 Hindi films. Asrani has played the lead hero, character roles, comedic roles and supporting roles. He also directed six films between 1974 and 1997.

12. Tiku Talsania

Tiku Talsania played the role of landlord B.K. Kakkad in the film. He has acted in supporting roles in nearly 200 films and in TV serials. Apart from acting in films and television serials, he also performs as a freelance theatre artist, working for Gujarati theatre in Mumbai and in America and Europe.
