Richa Chadha receives rape and death threats on Twitter, Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhaskar comes out in support!

Bollywood Richa Chadha actress is known for her bold style and different issues of society as vocal speakers is currently in the news for all the wrong reasons.


Yes, the actress has been receiving death and rape threats after one of her tweets.

It all started on May 5, when Richa Chadha issued a ‘public notice’ on Twitter stating that there is a need to get rid of Hindutva supporters in order to save the religion. The actress who tweeted in Hindi said, “Yes, Hinduism is indeed in danger in India. Hinduism faces a threat from Hindutva supporters. Save your religion and get rid of these supporters of Hindutva. Issued in public interest.”

As soon as the actress posted this tweet, a number of people condemned the actress for her opinions on Twitter and threats her. However, Richa didn’t get scared from these threats and gives an apt reply to the trollers. She posted the screenshot of the threats on her Twitter and captioned it as, “Hey tweeps!Don’t care about the targeted abuse because there’s a lot of unemployment in the country rn,if someone needs to work for ₹10 per tweet,I don’t judge them.But RAPE AND MURDER threats?Come on”

In another tweet, she wrote, “Dear unemployable,ten rupee troll, I’d like to remind you -ki aap sab ek jaise hain. You’re all the same. And also, plz don’t try whataboutery with me. Maine abusers ka theka nahi liya hai. All abuse is reprehensible and cowardly. (Dictionary khol ke dekh lo matlab).”

After this tweet, actress Pooja Bhatt comes out in support of Richa and she took to Twitter and wrote, “You must report this. Twitter needs to take responsibility for this. They cannot provide a platform to people who openly threaten to rape and maim women.”

Swara Bhaskar also comes out in support and wrote:

On Thursday, Farhan Akhtar took to his micro-blogging site to write, “Top management at Twitter must re-group and decide what they would like their service to be remembered for. If it is for good, then they need to get smarter in its regulation. Rape and death threats cannot be allowed or go unpunished. Twitter.”
