Karan Johar’s Kalank is one of the much-anticipated film of the year. The film is set against the backdrop of India’s partition and stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles.
The makers had earlier announced that Kalank will be hitting the screens on April 19, 2019. Now as per a tabloid, the release date has been preponed and will now hit the screens on April 17, 2019.
Kalank release pre-poned
A source close to the daily confirmed the news and said, “The idea is to capitalise on Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday, besides Saturday and Sunday. It’s an extended weekend with two partial holidays. And going by past records, it’s a good time for a big film to release. ”
Meanwhile, the teaser of the film will release on March 12, 2019. Karan Johar announced the teaser date of the film by releasing a video.
He captioned it as, “The world of #Kalank will come alive. Teaser out on Tuesday, 12th March!”
Varun Dhawan plays Zafar, a blacksmith, with Alia Bhatt as Roop, Sanjay Dutt as Balraj, Madhuri Dixit as Bahaar, Aditya Roy Kapoor as Dev and Sonakshi Sinha as Satya.

Kalank is a period flick set in the 1940s and is back by Karan Johar under his home banner Dharma Productions. The idea of Kalank was conceptualised by Karan’s late father Yash Johar 15 years back and it was revealed by him a few days back. The film is set against the backdrop of India’s partition.
The film will release on April 17, 2019.
