The female astrologer who accused actor Karan Oberoi of rape has been arrested by Oshiwara police on Monday.
She has been accused of filing a false complaint against the actor and helping orchestrate an attack on herself shortly after the initial FIR was filed.
For the uninitiated, Karan was arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman on May 5 in suburban Oshiwara. The woman complained to police that Oberoi, who was in a relationship with her since 2016, allegedly raped her on the pretext of marrying her. He also shot some objectionable videos of the woman and demanded money from her while threatening to release the clips, the official said.

An FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code against Oberoi.
On May 25, she had also informed the police of being attacked by two men on a bike who slashed her with a paper cutter, threatened to throw acid on her and left a paper chit which read “take back the case”.
On May 27, the police nabbed the youths involved in the attack, with one of them revealing that it was a pre-planned conspiracy. One of the men, who is the cousin of the woman’s lawyer, said that he was paid Rs 10,000 to carry out the attack. Woman’s lawyer too has surrendered to the cops, admitting that the woman had hired his cousin for the attack.

Meanwhile, Karan Oberoi was in judicial custody for over a month and he finally received a bail from Bombay High Court on June 11.
