The singer had returned from the UK on March 9 and travelled to Lucknow and Kanpur from Mumbai. She also attended family gatherings and small parties with friends and relatives during the festival of Holi. However, Kanika didn’t know that she had contracted the virus until she experienced mild fever and dry cough and went to get tested.
After she tested positive, she was slammed by the media for attending parties and spreading the virus though none of those who came into contact with her tested positive. She was also criticised by the hospital administration for her ‘starry behaviour’.
She has also been booked under Sections 188, 269, and 270 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sarojini Nagar police station in the city. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by the chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow.
