Kashmiri actress Zaira Wasim who has been receiving accolades for her performance as young Geeta Phogat in the Aamir Khan’s blockbuster “Dangal”, has deleted her open letter in which she apologised for “unintentionally hurting” people after her meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, from her social media accounts.
Zaira met with Mufti on Saturday, 14 January 2017, after the latter praised her performance in “Dangal”. During the meet, the starlet spoke her mind on the importance of educating the girl child and women’s safety apart from other things.
However, the 16-year-old Kashmiri actress was trolled on social media when photos from the meeting emerged. Wasim took to Facebook on Monday, 16 January, to apologise for hurting the sentiments of fellow Kashmiris.
After being trolled on social media, Zaira deleted her post but celebrities come out in full support of ‘Dangal’ girl.
Zaira on-screen father Aamir Khan came out in full support of her. “I have read Zaira’s statement, and I can understand and imagine what lead her to make that statement. Zaira, I want you to know that we are all with you. The beauty is that bright, young, talented, hardworking, respectful, caring and courageous kids like you are a role model for kids not only in India, but across the world. You certainly are a role model for me! May god bless you. Love. Aamir,” the Bollywood star wrote.
He added a P.S.: “I appeal to everyone to now leave her alone and respect the fact that she is just a 16 yr old girl trying her best to deal with life.”
