Story of the Movie:

The film is based in Punjab, where a retired father Prbjit Walia (Naseeruddin Shah) lives with his daughter Ria (Ruman Molla). He prepare his daughter for Civil Services exams. He is shattered when she is declared terminally-ill. On digging deeper to find the real cause of her mysterious disease, he discovers that many others in Punjab are dying of cancer because of the contaminated water that is supplied to the township. Naseer, then sets out to expose the nexus between a pharmaceutical giant and the State Administration, both of who are turning a blind eye to the health hazards of the dying public. He is joined on his mission by Intelligence Officer, Arjun Mishra (Arshad Warsi) Meanwhile, in the story the journalist Simi (Sagarika Gtge) is also investigate the incident for her own reason. Eventually, Climax in the story comes and the film’s story turn.

Direction of the film:

Irada has its heart in the right place. Having picked up a subject that talks of environmental hazards, debutant director Aparnaa Singh’s conscientious streak shows. The film brings us face to face with harsh realities in Punjab. The film’s direction is superb. Aparnaa also wrote the script good and particularly the dialogues are very good. In the film many went poetry are used which make the story even more interesting.

Starcast Performance

Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi once again performed best.  Not a single person has performed below the mark, which is a big pro of this taut thriller which thrives on immensely powerful performances. The magical and super talented duo of ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi are stupendous in their characters.

Divya Dutta as the corrupt politician gets the perfect tonality required for her role. Dutta’s terrifyingly authoritative CM is more than just grey. She hurls abuses and symbolises political parasites, who want to retain power by hook or crook.

Sharad Kelkar (Paddy Sharma) the managing director of PPFPL and also the main fund provider for the Chief Minister of Punjab as the antagonist is a surprise and we believe he was the perfect choice for the role of  the unscrupulous business-tycoon.

‘Chak De! India’ actress, Sagarika Ghatge in a substantial role after such a long time and she did justice to her part.

Music of the film: The film’s background music is good.

Final Verdict:

It’s indeed amazing to see a first-time director Aparnaa Singh come up with an issue that’s unheard of in movies. She has tackled it with extreme care, and that is commendable. The scenes are crisp, the acting is phenomenal, the visuals are real.

Watch or Not? You can definitely give this movie a watch.
