Superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya met with a minor accident on Tuesday after her car hit an auto rickshaw in Chennai’s Alwarpet area. The driver of the auto, was injured in the accident and has been admitted to a hospital.
However, a timely intervention by actor Dhanush, who is also Soundarya’s brother-in-law, saved the day for her. Before the situation could get out of control, Dhanush reached the spot and defused the situation. He offered monetary compensation and medical treatment to the driver.
Eyewitness’ claim that around 4am a speeding stone grey Hyundai Creta which apparently lost control at a curve near TTK Road rammed an autorikshaw parked near the road. The head on collision left the front end of the auto completely damaged. The auto driver, Mani who was sleeping inside the vehicle had allegedly sustained injuries.
“They used to park the autos on this road and go to sleep. Often people from the nearby hospital look for a ride and so it was convenient for them. The car lost control as it made a wide turn and just rammed into the auto,” stated a man who works as a security guard in a nearby building.
The auto driver allegedly threatened Soundarya with police action. The filmmaker alerted her brother-in-law Dhanush who rushed to the scene of the accident and spoke to the aggrieved driver, said reports.
No police complaint was filed and the cops who arrived at the spot around 11am were genuinely inquiring with the locals for details about the driver and the accident as the multiple CCTVs on the traffic pole was not working as well.
Soundarya had directed Kochadaiiyaan starring her superstar father and Deepika Padukone. The film was a flop and she took a break from direction after her wedding to a businessman. Soundarya filed for divorce from her husband last year. She will be directing Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattadhari 2.
