There is no doubt that the television industry has abundant talent, and actors like Rajeev Khandelwal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Yami Gautam have proven that they can not only shine on the small screen but also weave magic on celluloid.
Everybody knows that Yami Gautam, who floored us with her acting in Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ recently, had actually began her career with doing TV shows.
Yami played the role of very bubbly ‘Leher Mathur Vajpayee’, a Kayasth girl in colors show called ‘Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam’ who falls in love with the brahmin guy named ‘Abeer Bajpayee’.
Set in Lucknow, the story was set against the background of caste politics and class differences and the lead pair of this show was hugely loved by the audiences back in 2009.

Do you remember who played the role Abeer Bajpayee in that show? Well, he is none other then popular TV actor Gaurav Khanna who’s playing the lead role of ‘Virendra Singh’ in ‘Prem ya paheli – Chandrakanta‘, starring Kritika Kamra in the title role.
Usually playing a lover boy, Gaurav indeed looks far different in ‘Chandrakanta’ than he ever did in any of his other TV shows.
Bet many of you are surprised to know this as Gaurav almost goes unrecognizable in this new ‘Chandrakanta’ look!
Gaurav was quoted by a leading daily saying this about his co-actress making it to Bollywood some time back.. “My USP lies in the small screen, which I don’t intend to trade with Bollywood. I am very happy to see Yami (Gautam), my ex-colleague and co-star making inroads. But I’d wait till I get a competent role than to take up role of any kind”.
‘Chandrakanta’ hit the smalls screen this weekend itself and will now air every Saturday-Sunday at 9pm on Life OK.
