Through the portal, people can donate up to Rs 15 lakh to the families of martyred jawans and officers of central armed police forces (CAPFs).

The portal is an IT based platform, with an objective to enable willing donors to contribute towards the family of a braveheart who sacrificed his/her life in line of duty. The amount so donated will be credited to the account of ‘Next of Kin’ of those Central Armed Police Force/Central Para Military Force soldiers.

An emotional Akshay also took to Twitter as he launched the website saying, “A Day I Found Hard To Hold Back My Tears…honouring the widows of our fallen soldiers. Support the families of our Bravehearts. #BharatKeVeer Now LIVE –> BharatKeVeer.Gov.in.”

This website will host a list of the names of the martyrs, along with the bank account numbers of their close ones – mother, father or wife. And if someone wants to help that jawan’s family financially, they can directly make a contribution into their accounts.

“This website has been made exactly in two and a half months. About three months, this idea came in my mind, while watching a documentary film on terrorists, which showed how terror leaders financially support the families of the terrorist who carry out terror acts.” Akshay said at the inauguration.

“Everybody wants to connect to people in uniform in their pain. It was a small dream and to fulfill this dream, our government really helped us. I want to thank everybody with my folded hands. My father was in Army and I am here as his son. Thank-you everyone,” he added.

Before Akshay’s speech, the actor and Rajnath Singh gave away medals to soldiers and officers of the CRPF. “It would not be wrong if I call him Action Kumar. He is a hero for so many, but for him, Army and CAPF jawans are the real heroes,” Singh said.

“Usually, the compensation amount when somebody was martyred while fighting for the nation varied from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. We want to make sure that they get Rs 1 crore. There was some gap in compensation in some states. But we have told states that we (the Centre) will fill that gap,” Singh added.
