The industry gave a tearful adieu to the originalhearthrobof Bollywood, Vinod Khanna. Before the last rites, Member of Parliament Vinod Khanna was given the Guard of Honor by the Indian Navy at his residence.
According to sources, “The family had briefed us that there should be no funeral procession to be held (like superstar Rajesh Khanna’s case). They made it a point to install temporary bed sheets on the window panes in absence of the curtains of the ambulance so that the media lenses could not capture the actor’s mortal remains,”

“The Navy officials who arrived to give a Guard of Honour since Vinod Sahab was presently serving as a Member of Parliament from Gurudaspur in Punjab was asked to do so privately with close family members present in the building premises. Post the Guard of Honour the mortal remains was wrapped with the Navy flag.” source added.
The source also elaborated, “Apart from a private funeral, Vinod also wanted his youngest Sakshi to give agni and perform the last rites . Therefore Sakshi reached the crematorium initially and sat for a pooja post performing the last rites.”
The actor’s first wife Geetanjali was seen consoled by both her sons Akshaye and Rahul but she broke down once the last rites were performed. While Vinod’s present wife Kavita who has gone through the turmoil past two years post the actor was detected with bladder carcinoma seemed relatively more restrained and played a strong parent for Sakshi and his sister Shraddha.
