CBFC suggests 14 cuts in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Indu Sarkar’, director lashes out on Twitter

Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) committee has suggested 14 cuts to Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film ‘Indu Sarkar’.


The director of the film, Madhur Bhandarkar, took to Twitter to inform everyone CBFC’s recent decision.

“Just got out of ‘Indu Sarkar’ film censor screening. Am appalled at the 14 cuts suggested by the committee. Will go to the Revising Committee,” Bhandarkar tweeted on Monday evening.

In another tweet he wrote: “How can d dialogues in d trailer b deleted frm d film? Am i missing some logic or r difrnt yardsticks being used during censor?#InduSarkar”

 

This period drama is based on the 21-month long period from 1975 to 1977, when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had unilaterally declared a state of emergency across the country.

The film features Kirti Kulhari, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. While Supriya Vinod will be seen essaying the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Neil Nitin Mukesh will be seen playing Sanjay Gandhi in the movie.

The film is slated to release on July 28, 2017.
