Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Jagga Jasoos’ co-star Bidisha Bezbaruah commits suicide in Gurgaon

Assamese actress and singer Bidisha Bezbaruah, who recently acted in “Jagga Jasoos”, allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday at her flat in Gurugram.

Her husband, Nisheet was arrested this morning after Ms Bezbaruah’s father lodged a complaint against him, reported news agency ANI.

Bidisha Bezbaruah was a native of Assam was well known TV personality who had hosted many stage shows as well, they said.

She had recently come from Mumbai to Gurgaon, the police said. “Bezbaruah was found hanging from a ceiling fan of her recently acquired rented apartment,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Deepak Saharan said.

He said the father of the actress had informed the police that she was not taking his calls. “Her father suspected something foul as she was not picking the phone on Monday evening. He approached the police and gave details of her local address,” Mr Saharan added.

Bezbaruah mentioned to her parents that she wished to divorce her husband, who she had been married to for about 14 months. Her father then called up her husband, Nisheet Jha (earlier reports stated his name was Nisheet Jain), who is currently residing in Mumbai, asking him to go back to her. However, Jain hung up on him. After this incident, Bezbaruah switched off her phone and allegedly committed suicide.

The actress had reportedly been suffering emotionally and often complained of harassment by her in-laws. Her parents, however, never thought she would be compelled to resort to this extreme step.

Her mobile phone, Facebook and social networking site conversations are being examined by investigating teams. No suicide note was recovered from her possession.

The police have booked Bezbaruah’s husband under abetment to suicide and he has also been asked to cooperate in the investigation, as per the same Tribune India report.

Bidisha earned praises in Assam, with her brilliant acting in the drama ‘ Xanto Xisto Hristo Pusto Mohadusto.’ Bidisha completed her graduation in English Literature from Cotton College. She got married to one Nisheeth Jha, a person from Gujrat, almost a year ago.
