Aishwarya Rai and Anil Kapoor starrer ‘Fanney Khan’ has been released in cinemas. The film is the Hindi adaptation of the 2000 Dutch release Everybody’s Famous directed by Dominique Deruddere, which was also nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 73rd Academy Awards.

The story of the movie: The film is about Prashant Sharma aka Fanney Khan (Anil Kapoor) a middle-class man. He wants to become a singer like Mohammad Rafi, but he wasn’t able to, due to circumstances. So even before his daughter utters her first word, he entrusts her with the responsibility of fulfilling his dreams, even naming her after Lata Mangeshkar. He gives up the orchestra for her and makes a living by working in a factory, even taking up the job of a cab driver when he loses his employment. However, unlike her father, Lata (Pihu Sand), grows up idolizing Baby Singh aka Sumitra (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). She aspires to be just as famous but every time she steps up on the stage, she is ridiculed for her size and appearance. Then, Fanney Khan decides to cut an album for her ends up kidnapping hit singer Baby Singh (Aishwarya Rai). Will they succeed? For this, you have to watch the film.

Star Performance: Anil Kapoor fits into his role. Rajkummar Rao is also good in his role. Aishwarya Rai as the hotshot singer Baby Singh looks befittingly gorgeous. Divya Dutta as Lata’s mother and Anil’s wife does full justice to her role. And, debutante Pihu Sand who plays Lata, though fits for the role perfectly.

Music Direction: The film’s music is good. Songs like Halka-Halka and Jawan Hai Mohabbat are already hit by the audience.

Direction: The film’s direction is good. Atul Manjrekar gives a strong message to the society. A few comic scenes manage to evoke laughter. The screenplay and the plot of the film could be even better.
