A senior lady executive from Pakistan, when asked about her personal opinion on denial of NOC, said, “Well, you know how the mentality is in our Asian men towards periods and they don’t want to discuss this as it’s a taboo. Sadly.”

The makers of the film are not so affected about this decision, “Pakistan as a territory is not a big one so even if Padman does not release there, it will not have any effect on the business of the film.”

Padman is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has helped spread awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India.

The film is Twinkle Khanna’s production venture in association with Gauri Shinde. ‘Padman’ also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte who play the female leads in the film.
