‘Jackpot’ actor Sachiin Joshi buys Vijay Mallya’s famous Kingfisher Villa in Goa for Rs 73 crore

Actor Sachiin Joshi, who was last seen romancing Sunny Leone onscreen in jackpot, is now a proud owner of Vijay Mallya’s famous Kingfisher Villa.

The Villa failed to make a sale at multiple auctions after which the lenders agreed to dispose the property through a negotiated sale to Sachiin.

Joshi is said to have paid more than Rs 73 crores for the Villa which is marginally higher than the last auction.

Joshi, who owns Viking Media and Entertainment, has starred in Hindi movies including Aazaan, Mumbai Mirror and Jackpot.

The property was seized by the State Bank Of India-led group after Mallya failed to repay the loans he took for his airline company.

According to Times of India’s report SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya confirmed the sale. The Kingfisher Villa located off Candolim beach was Mallya’s legendary property where he used to throw parties frequently.

The bank made three attempts to auction the property at 85.29 crore, then Rs 81 crore and finally Rs 73 crore, but they failed to find a suitable buyer for it. On March 6, 2017, the bank made a last attempt to sell the sea-facing bungalow and Sachin Joshi got lucky this time. He paid a price marginally higher than Rs 73 crore the last reserve price.

Vijay Mallya owes more than Rs 9000 crore to lenders. He has been declared as a wilful defaulter after his airline Kingfisher Airlines grounded in 2012.
