Meet Saif Ali Khan co-star Raageshwari Loomba who fought facial paralysis 16 years back!

Do you remember 90s popular actress Raageshwari Loomba who featured in 1993 superhit film Aankhen that made her an overnight star.


She became a household name after the film’s song Lal Dupatte Wali became a rage. She was seen as Saif Ali Khan’s love interest and Akshay’s sister in ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’

Her music album Duniya in 1997, became an instant hit. She came up with two more albums Pyaar Ke Rang and Sach Ka Saath in 1998. They were followed by her third album Y2K- saal do hazaar, the year 2000. This was the time when terror struck the talented lady, and her life turned upside down in a span of just one night.

Just 7 days after Raageshwari released her album Y2K, little did she know about the destiny’s harsh plans that it had for her. While she was gearing up for a national tour post her music album, Raageshwari was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a form of facial paralysis causing an inability to control facial muscles on the affected side. She could not speak or eat with any dignity. Her illness obviously left her and her loved ones shocked.

Her family was the strongest pillar of strength during her fight. They stood beside her all throughout and gave her the much-needed support and positivity.

Over the next year, she rehabilitated herself with help of physiotherapy, electrical stimulation and yoga. After recovering from the illness completely, Raageshwari started to work on leprosy mission, and aimed to spread awareness and collect funds for the disorder. Besides, she also supported causes for animals and even adopted a stray dog.

Life gradually came back on track for the beautiful girl and she featured in films like ‘Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost’ in 2003 and ‘Tum Jiyo Hazaron Saal’ in 2002, post her disease.

Raageshwari was also seen in the reality show Bigg Boss in 2011.

Raageshwari married London based human rights lawyer, Sudhanshu Swaroop on January 27, 2014 in Mumbai. She was blessed with a baby girl on February 11, 2016 in London.

In an interview, Raageshwari said “I’m pregnant at 40 and naturally. So I want every woman out there to have faith, belief and love for their bodies, if they ever feel the clock is ticking. It is our greatest wish that every couple wishing to conceive, is blessed with a baby.”

Today, the lady has fought her destiny and leading a happy married life in London, with her family.
