‘Noor’ director accepts CBFC cuts and drop these two words from the film

As we inform earlier the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Noor’ makers to chop or beep over the words ‘Dalit’ and ‘Sex Toy’ used in the film.

The Pahlaj Nihalani-led board has suggested to the makers to replace the word ‘sex toy’ with ‘adult site’. This comes in the wake of the certification body asking to edit a reference to journalist Barkha Dutt in the film too. The board had asked the makers to either remove the reference entirely or beep the word ‘Dutt’ in the scenes

Now, ‘Noor’ has received a U/A certificate from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after making the changes advised by the censor board.

Director Sunhil Sippy told PTI that they have accepted CBFC’s decision.

“The objection raised by CBFC over certain words was not affecting the narrative of the film. So we have accepted it. We were told the use of Dalit is in reference to a community so it’s asked to be removed. We have got U/A certificate,” he told PTI.

‘Noor’ is based on Saba Imtiaz’s novel ‘Karachi, You’re Killing Me!’ and narrates the tale of scribe-writer Noor’s misadventures and love life as she navigates her way through Mumbai.

“Noor” features Sonakshi Sinha as the title character, along with Kanan Gill, Shibani Dandekar and Purab Kohli in pivotal roles. The film is all set to release on 21 April 2017.
