‘Pakeezah’ actress Geeta Kapoor abandoned by son in hospital

Veteran actress Geeta Kapoor, who has worked in films such as Pakeezah and Razia Sultan, has been abandoned by her son in hospital after being initially admitted by him on April 21.

Geeta was admitted to the SRV Hospital to be treated for her falling blood pressure. When his son was asked to make a deposit at the hospital, he went out on the pretext of looking for an ATM to withdraw the money, but never came back. The doctors at the hospital continued Geeta’s treatment as her condition was quite fragile. The hospital made multiple attempts to contact Geeta’s son Raja and her daughter Pooja, but their efforts yielded no results.

Since then, Geeta has been left abandoned at the hospital and the bill of her treatment has now reached to a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh.

In an interview with TV9, Geeta revealed that it’s been over a month and nobody from her family has come to get her discharged from the hospital.

About her son, she told MidDay, “He used to beat me up as I did not approve of his philandering ways. He would give me food once in four days, and sometimes, even lock me up for several days. I was not ready to go to an old-age home, that’s why, he planned all this. He deliberately kept me hungry and I fell ill. Then, he got me admitted and fled.”

Dr Dipendra Tripathi who is treating Geeta told the daily, “Raja got her to us, lying about him being an army officer and she needing urgent treatment. He was asked to pay a deposit and complete the formalities. He left saying he would get money from the nearest ATM, but never returned. We had no option but to start the treatment as she was in a bad shape.”

Reports suggest that the hospital has lodged a complaint with the police who are now trying to trace Geeta’s family. It has also been reported that soon after admitting Geeta to the hospital, her son Raja moved out of their flat and ignored all phone calls made by the hospital. Attempts were also made to contact her daughter Pooja, who allegedly replied with a ‘wrong number’ before hanging up the phone.
