On the occasion of World Toilet Day, filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra shared the poster of his upcoming satirical drama Mere Pyarey Prime Minister.
The poster showcases a mother and his child showing the pencil sketch of a toilet, which is an indirect application to the Prime Minister to build the toilet in their area.
After looking the poster, we can say that the film tackles the issue of sanitation in the slums.
“#MereyPyareyPrimeminister- here is the first poster on #Worldtoiletday2017 [email protected] – meri arzi aapki marzi,” Mehra wrote along with the poster.

Talking about the subject of the film, Rakeysh earlier had said that, “The subject has been simmering on a slow fire for three years. I’m a Delhi boy and all my films– Rang De Basanti, Delhi 6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mirzya—were all set in the North. But I’ve been living in Mumbai since 1988 and seen it transform into a world city. The buildings are taller now but there are still slums around them that have always intrigued me and made me follow the path of Salaam Bombay, Slumdog Millionare and other stories which have grown out of them.”
Directed by Mehra, the film revolves around four kids living in a Mumbai slum. One of them wants to build a toilet for his single mother and makes an appeal to the Prime Minister.
According to Mehra, his film is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideologies.
