On April 10, superstar Salman Khan launched yesteryears hit actress Asha Parekh’s biography named ‘The Hit Girl’. Authored by celebrated film critic and author Khalid Mohamed,the book covers the life and times of an actress who ruled the hearts of many in the 1960s and 1970s.
It is interesting to know that Salman Khan had written the foreword for the book, which the actor claim as his writing debut.

When Salman Khan launched the book and was asked to say a few words, the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo actor was excited but nervous and said, “Asha aunty thank you very much, I don’t deserve being here. Pasine chhut rahe hai mere iss waqt (I am literally sweating right now), I don’t understand what to say. I think it is a very difficult thing for anyone to write their own autobiography, mujhse toh life mein kabhi na ho (I would never be able to do it in my lifetime)!” He then pointed to Dharmendra and said laughing, “Dharamji would understand!”
Thanking Salman for writing the forward of her book, Asha said: “When the idea came if I should go for an autobiography, questions came to my mind. However, I speak the truth in my book; I tried to be honest without sensationalising anything. I am thankful to all the people who supported me in film industry and my fans to keep showing their interest in my work and life.”
The event was also attended by many iconic personalities including Salim Khan, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Waheeda Rahman, Jackie Shroff, Helen, Arpita Khan and Imran Khan, among many others. The book has been published by Om Books International.
Asha Parekh, known as the hit-girl of 1960s for her string of successful movies. The actress honored with Padma Shri Award by Indian Government in 1992.
Asha Parekh started the career as a child artist when she was just 10 then she acted in more than 90 films during 1952-1999. The actress received Filmfare Best Actress Award for Kati Patang (1971) and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002.
