Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Haseena Parkar’ is funded by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim!

Just two days after the arrest of Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s younger brother Iqbal Kaskar on charges of extortion, now police officials are probing if any money from D-Company – as Dawood’s underworld franchise is popularly called – had been used to fund the Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Haseena.

The film, which releases tomorrow, is a biopic on Haseena Parkar, Dawood’s sister, better known as Aapa.

Commissioner of Police, Thane, Parambir Singh told Mid-day, “The gang earlier used to finance movies with the money got through extortion. We will check if any similar investment was made recently.”

“After Parkar’s death, Kaskar was handling D-Company’s business in Mumbai and Thane from her home in Nagpada. Parkar used to hold a daily darbar there, a practice that Kaskar continued,” said an officer.

Kaskar was taken into custody from Parkar’s house on Monday night by a team led by Pradeep Sharma, encounter specialist and Anti-Extortion Cell’s senior inspector. The other two arrested are Mumtaz Shaikh, 48, and Israr Ali Sayed Ali, 57.

‘Haseena Parkar’ is a true story based on the life and times of the sister of India’s Most Wanted Man – Dawood Ibrahim.

The role of Dawood will be essayed by Shraddha’s brother Siddhanth Kapoor, who marks his entry into Bollywood with this film. This will also be the first time that fans will see the siblings in a film together.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film has been released in cinemas.
