Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are all set to star together for the first time in YRF’s Sui Dhaaga. Since the film is based on Mahatma Gandhi’s Made in India campaign, Anushka and Varun could not let this opportunity go by without giving fans a special treat.
The idea behind the film is to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi and his Made In India philosophy. Releasing a small tribute video, Varun wrote, “ASLI #MADEININDIA Baapu ko #suidhaaga ka salaam @anushkasharma. Sui dhaaga 2018 #gandhijayanti.”
In the video, Varun and Anushka take to shudh hindi and are seen saying, “Jo bana lauh se, lahu se, aag se, desh ke liye bana, desh se bana. Satya ka tha aagrah, nayi thi kalpana. Aatma nirbharta ke charkhe se kiya paradheenta ka khatma. Naam tha Mohandas, par kehte hain jise Mahatma. Saade kapde pe iraade bune, aisa diya hume sui dhaaga. Asli made in India baapu ko Sui Dhaaga ka salaam. Aur har us karigar ko salam jiske dum se hai, Made In India.”
Saluting Bapu’s simplicity and ‘swadesi’ movement in the video, Varun and Anushka prove why Indian manufactured goods are the best.
The film will be directed by ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ director Sharat Kataria who is known for telling stories that connect with the simple, middle-class families and Sui Dhagha seems to fall into the same category.
The film will go on floors in January 2018 and will release on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, birth anniversary of the real man behind Make in India initiative.
Speaking about the project, Varun said, “From Gandhiji to Modiji, our leaders have always endorsed the mantra of Made in India. With SUI DHAAGA, I am proud to take their message to millions of movie lovers in a way that is entertaining and relevant. I really liked the script that Sharat had written and I am happy that I am teaming up with YRF on this one. Anushka and I are pairing up for the first time so I am sure there will be fireworks.”
Anushka Sharma also added, “I always get excited with unique ideas that have human interest stories. SUI DHAAGA is a story of self-reliance that I believe will connect to the grassrotts level with every Indian. And I am really looking forward to working with Varun Dhawan and the team of Sharat Katariya and Maneesh Sharma.”
Varun’s latest film is Judwaa 2, has been successful at the box-office while Anushka is busy with her next production Pari.
